Dr Satu Vainikka, PhD, MBA has been the CEO of Valirx plc since listing on AIM in 2006.  With a strong background in biotechnology, technology commercialisation, financing and management.  Dr. Vainikka trained at the Universities of Oulu and Helsinki, Finland, and holds a PhD in molecular biology.


After post-doctoral research with a prestigious EMBO fellowship at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now CRUK), she worked with a number of biotechnology companies prior to founding Valirx.  She has an MBA from Imperial College Business School, London.

A commercially focussed Finance Director, Susan Robertson came to Velocys from the BOC Group where she helped to set up and served as VP and CFO of Japan Air Gases, a JV between The BOC Group and Air Liquide. Prior to that, she held finance positions with BOC in Japan, the UK and globally, as well as strategic and business development roles in the UK. Susan has an honours degree in economics from Cambridge University and is a chartered accountant.
